General Information:
Fundraising
There are many costs associated with running our team. The Huron Athletic Department provides coach's salaries and practice facilities. Our team fee covers individual player expenses. However, the team incurs many other necessary costs such as tournament entry fees and upkeep / replacement of equipment such as balls, numbered players' caps, goals, lane lines, and software / hardware needed to run the game and shot clocks. Each year our team must generate income beyond the team fees to pay these additional expenses. We do this through setting a fundraising goal that we hope each player will be able to meet. This year the fundraising goal is $100 per player, and it can be achieved through a combination of fundraising sales activities and / or personal donation. Thank you in advance for the effort you will put into helping to keep the team finances healthy and stable through your fundraising efforts!
Booster Club
If you have not done so, please consider joining the Booster Club. The Booster Club provides administrative support for all athletic activities at Huron so it is an important resource for all teams. When more than 50% of our team's families join the Booster Club, we are eligible to receive a special cash back incentive for that year. In addition, high Booster Club participation gives our team priority in choosing dates for Booster Club concessions fundraising opportunities at Huron sporting events and University of Michigan football games. Membership information is available at http://www.a2huron.org/huron.boosters/booster_club_home
Parent Volunteers
Parents are asked to assist the team in many ways. We need volunteers to drive to out of county games and tournaments, provide food for the hospitality room during home tournaments, and work the scoring table during home games and tournaments. The sign up links for these jobs are at the "Volunteers" page at http://huronwomenswaterpolo.weebly.com/volunteers.html
There are also additional jobs or "Special Projects" that we need help with; these jobs include filming of key varsity games, photographing all games, helping with the memory book, coordinating senior night/team banquet, managing the pizza kit fundraiser, etc. Each family is asked to sign up for at least one Special Project assignment.
Practice and Game Schedule: Per Coaches Clyde and Glanda
Visit our team website at http://huronwomenswaterpolo.weebly.com/calendar.html for the season’s current practice and game schedule.
School Attendance Policy for Game/Tournament Participation
Per Huron’s Athletic Office: Players must attend ALL classes on game days. If you have a dental or medical appointment, college visit or funeral on a game day, your parent must call in the absence to the Athletic Office as excused no less than 24-48 hours in advance to the absence. Any unexcused absence from school on a game day, even if it is for just one class, is a disqualification from the competition for that day. If there is a Friday absence the disqualification carries over to Saturday. For other absences excused by parents on the day of a competition, the student must attend more than 50% of their classes to be eligible to participate. ALL absences must be called in to the attendance office to be excused. If the student is unable to attend more than 50% of their classes on Friday, they will not be eligible to compete on either Friday or Saturday. Please carefully review the schedule and notify Coach Gottliebsen if you determine that your student has any conflicts.
Team Travel
Athletes are responsible for their own transportation to games and tournaments in Washtenaw County. For other away games, players will be driven by parent volunteers. Athletes are expected to travel with the team for all out of county events unless arrangements are made in advance with the coach. The cost of each overnight tournament will be approximately $35 - $45 per player, depending upon roster size.
